Open House Committee :

Open house is the time when prospective families who are considering enrolling their child(ren) at Upper Room Christian Academy visit the campus . Parent Partners will assist in helping visitors around the campus, provide testimonials, and present highlights about the school’s various programs and achievements. Additionally, Parent Partners will assist with program promotions, meeting venue and refreshment set-up, and program participation.

Volunteers Needed: 30

Volunteer Hours: 4 hrs per month for 2 months [December, January]

Harvest Fest Committee :

This is a fall fun event held for the students of URCA. The students will have the opportunity to play games, ride carnival style rides, participate in contests, win prizes and eat fun foods . The Parent Partners will assist with event planning, event set-up, games and rides supervision, food procurement, preparation and serving to students, and clean up.

Cherrydale Committee :

This is the primary fund-raiser event of the year for Partners of URCA. Offered for sale are high quality gifts, candies, nuts and gift wrapping paper. Parent Partners will market and promote event, collect student order forms and funds, place order, receive , organize and distribute orders.

Volunteers Needed: 10

Merry Christmas House Committee :

This event is held for one day in December . The MCH features a large variety of affordable gift items for the students and school staff to purchase for the special people in your child’s life. Parent Partners will seek donated items, purchase items, set-up event, plan student shopping schedule, promote event, assist with student shopping, and provide gift-wrapping.

Victory Seed Committee :

This is a fund raiser that is conducted in conjunction with the support of The Upper Room Church of God in Christ. The funds received will be allocated to the general fund of URCA. These funds may support, but is not are limited to general operations, maintenance, student and teacher enrichment, and scholarship funding. The Parent Partners will assist with marketing and promoting the event, planning program details, supporting the event set-up and program participation .

Founders Celebration Committee :

This is the most prized fund raising event of the year for Partners of URCA. This black-tie event allows the Parent Partners and the larger community to celebrate the founding of our great Academy. This program will celebrate the vision of Pastor Dr. Patrick L. Wooden, Sr. and First Lady Pamela Wooden. The funds raised will be used to support scholarship funding, and "specific" capital project funding. The Parent Partners will market and promote the event, plan and support program details, solicit financial and in-kind donations, and assist with the planning of scholarship and capital project allocation.

Volunteers Needed: 15

Volunteer Hours: 3 hrs per month for 8 months [September-April]

Parent Assisted Lunches (PALS) Committee :

This is how we give our awesome teachers a well deserved lunch break. Twice per month Parent Partners will fill in for the teachers and take their respective class room students to lunch. The Parent Partners will coordinate a PALS class room schedule with the class room Mom or Dad. The Parent Partner will take class room students to lunch, monitor student behavior and return students back to class room.

Event Held: August-May

Volunteers Needed: upwards of 22 (based upon number of students in a classroom)

Volunteer Hours: 1.5 hrs per month, based upon your scheduled time

Black History Month Committee :

Let us celebrate the great achievements of the many African-American heroes. The Parent Partners in partnership with the Teachers and Students will celebrate our leaders by organizing the "Black History Bowl". This event is a competitive quiz bowl in which teams organized by grade level will compete against each other. The Parent Partners will serves as coaches for each team, help develop quiz questions, serve as judges, and lead the questioning.

Volunteers Needed: 8

Volunteer Hours: 3 hrs per month for 3 months [December, January, February]

Kite Day Committee :

The April winds are blowing! Parents Partners will assist students by assembling kites, help teachers monitoring the students behavior, and generally be part of the fun.

Spring Fest Committee :

This is the classic end of the year "field day" event held for the students of URCA. The students will have the opportunity to play games, ride carnival style rides, participate in contests, win prizes and eat fun foods . The Parent Partners will assist with event planning, event set-up, games and rides supervision, food procurement, preparation and serving to students, and clean up.

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week Committee :

This is when we focus on our teachers and staff members and let them know how much we appreciate their efforts. The week is filled with many acts of kindness. They are shown how much they are appreciated by getting notes, gifts and other special tokens from students and parents. The week highlight is the Teachers and Staff Appreciation Banquet. At the banquet, they will be guest of honor. The Parent Partners will plan, market and promote the events, develop the banquet program – including securing the guest speaker, and food; and assist with set-up and clean up.

Student Graduation Committee :

The Parent Partners will assist the academy and preschool staff with graduation activities. These tasks may include program planning, serve as student chaperons , event set-up and clean up, and host student reception.

Volunteer Hours: 4-6 hrs per month for 2 months [April, May, June]

Development Committee :

The Parent Partner will support the long term financial needs of URCA by making or cause yearly donations and/or pledges to occur. The funds raised will be use to establish, fund scholarship and an endowment. In conjunction with the Administrators and School Board, the Parent Partners will develop the scholarship award requirements, funding amounts, and award frequency. Additionally, the endowment efforts will be jointly ran . Those efforts may include investment options, and usage. Parents with financial services backgrounds are urged to volunteer.

The Eagles Nest-School Store and Vending Committee :

Let’s Go Eagles, Let’s Go! Help us spread school spirit by selling school logo items such as tee shirts, sweat shirts, pencils, pens, book bags, folders, notebooks and other fun items. This committee will also supply, collect proceeds from the sale of healthy snacks, and drink items to be located in the vending machines. Additionally, the committee members will coordinate in-cafeteria Chic-Fil-A and Little Caesar pizza day sales.

Hospitality/Welcome Committee :

Are you inviting? Are you warm? Do you want to be a "Good will Ambassador for URCA"? Join this committee! The Parent Partners will welcome new parents by making contact with them prior to the start of the school year; serve as event host, when necessary hand out announcements at car pool and coordinate other direct marketing efforts. These committee members are the cheer leaders of the school.

Yearbook Committee :

The Parent Partner will assist the URCA staff with assembling the yearbook. These tasks may include taking event photos, selling advertisement space, writing yearbook text, and sales.
